Level Architect

We have a great opportunity for a Level Architect. We're currently looking for innovative architects for an immediate opening.

Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

  • Work in close-collaboration with a Level Designer and a Level Modeler as a team to create levels for a next-gen console title.
  • Sketch/paper-map ideas for 3D game locations.
  • Design and work out the details of modular systems of architecture for levels.
  • Create 3D assets in 3D Studio Max.
  • Layout and light levels in Unreal.
  • Optimize final levels for performance.
  • Work with Level Designer to make gameplay and 3D space function harmoniously.
  • Collaborate with the narrative team to create environmental story-telling.
  • Work with Art Director and Environment Lead to ensure artistic unity across the game.

Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Possess a wealth of experience modeling, texturing, and lighting levels for games.
  • Have an solid understanding of the game art pipeline.
  • Able to communicate visually using quick thumbnail sketches or paper-maps.
  • Self-motivated towards solving creative problems.
  • Able to collaborate with other departments.
  • Can take direction well.
  • Organized and able to plan and scope level work effectively.
  • Able to respond elegantly to creative changes, often late in the process.
  • Understand concepts of game-play space and possess a keen interest in the medium of videogames.

Extra Credit:

  • Fluency with 3D Studio Max and Photoshop.
  • Experience with the Unreal Engine.
  • 3+ years game industry experience.
