Lead Software Engineer

Role summary:

The Lead Software Engineer's primary roles will involve coordinating C++ internal development and managing a team of programmers with the intent of producing quality, fun and different games. Facilitating growth and efficiency among team members to achieve goals and working effectively with other departments will be core elements of the position. The Lead Software Engineer will be an essential element in the game's programming and the implementation of all gameplay related functionality. Candidates must possess potent "soft" and "hard" skills to drive their team toward the realization of the project's vision. Adept communication and prioritization skills are integral parts of this position.

Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

  • Leading the direction of our internal C++ development and coaching programmers to produce all aspects of a game development cycle. As a lead programmer you will be key to the quality of the game's programming, and the player's experience.
  • Work with business, design, art and the production team to drive the implementation of the project's technical vision
  • Implement gameplay-related functionality including AI, controls, interfaces, game rules, etc. in C++ and script
  • Experience with agile development and project management methodologies (i.e. Scrum, XP)
  • Desire/ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teammates
  • Passionate gamer and creative problem solver

Requirements:

  • B.S.(or higher) degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in the games industry focused on software development
  • 3+ years as a senior software engineer
  • High proficiency with C++ and object-oriented design and programming
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coach and grow the technical understanding of other engineers
  • A passion for games and technology
  • Must be legally authorized or able to obtain legal authorization to work in the US.
